Hon. Pat Farmer’s political portfolio included being a member of the House of Representatives, Parliamentary Secretary for Education, Science and Training, Shadow Minister for Sport & Youth, serving on sub-committees including Education and Training, Communications, Information Technology and the Arts.

Mr. Farmer was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in recognition of his contribution to Politics, Charitable works, both nationally and internationally and his international achievements in ultra-marathon running.

In the year 2000 Pat Farmer was awarded Australian “Achiever of the Year” By the Prime Minister John Winston Howard. Pat was awarded the National Geographic’s Adventurer of the Year in 2012 for his epic run from the North Pole to the South Pole via the Americas, this extraordinary human challenge supported the International Red Cross/Red Crescents’ work in helping those living in poverty without clean drinking water and clean sanitary conditions, (the cause of millions of deaths world-wide every year). From 2001 to 2010 The Hon Pat Farmer served as an elected representative within the Australian Federal Parliament, he represented the government seat of Macarthur in south west Sydney, New South Wales.

Mr. Md Ariful Islam is an accomplished marine engineer with over 15 years of experience in maritime industry. Having worked both in Australia and overseas, Mr. Islam brings a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience to his role.

Mr. Islam is the Fellow of Institute of Marine Engineering Science & Technologies (IMarEST), the highest level of membership, for those who have demonstrated significant responsibility and sustained achievement in their profession. He is also the Member of Australian Institute of Marine Surveyors (AIMS).

Mr. Islam’s specialisation in blue economy projects with proven track record signifies that he has focused his expertise on initiatives related to sustainable ocean and marine resources.

Mr. Islam is not only a talented project manager but also an expert in project funding. With his unique blend of strategic thinking, meticulous planning, and financial acumen, he ensures the seamless execution of projects in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. By navigating the intricacies of project management and project funding, Mr. Islam takes initiatives to new heights, maximizing profitability and achieving outstanding results.

 

 AVRAHAM ABE LIFMAN, FRINA

Mr. Avraham Abe Lifman is an esteemed individual in the maritime and defence industry, revered for his innovative contributions and forward-thinking approach. Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in shaping the landscape of the industry, particularly through his involvement in various noteworthy Australian and international maritime projects.

One of his most recent and significant achievements is his pivotal role in the highly prestigious 1.9 billion-dollar project titled Antarctic icebreaker, ‘RSV Nuyina’. This vessel represents a ground breaking advancement in the field of Antarctic maritime research and exploration. The ‘RSV Nuyina’ is not only the most advanced research platform in Australia but also in the entire world history.

Another notable accomplishment is his involvement in the life extension and remediation program of Armidale class Australian patrol boats for Australian Navy. This project aimed to enhance the capabilities and extend the operational life of these vessels, demonstrating Mr. Lifman’s expertise in vessel refurbishment and modernization.

Mr. Lifman also contributed to the INCAT design team, helping DNV draft codes for HSLC (High Speed Light Crafts), all the while actively engaged in developing the initial design of the first aluminium wave piercer of the world.

Furthermore, Mr. Lifman served as the manager of sea worthiness and engineering safety for the LHD (Landing Helicopter Dock) project for Australian Navy. This role required him to oversee the operational readiness and safety of these advanced naval vessels, highlighting his commitment to ensuring the highest standards of performance and safety.

Mr. Lifman’s experience also extends beyond naval projects. He has served as the fleet manager for Sydney Ferries, where he was responsible for the efficient and effective management of the fleet operations. Additionally, he has held the position of General Manager at Balmain Shipyard and operation manager for Forgacs Shipyard in Brisbane, further showcasing his managerial capabilities within the maritime industry.
